During my study at college (BTEC Level 3, Extended Diploma) we were required to take a module on databases, in which we would be learning about basic usage of MySQL using PhpMyAdmin.
However, myself and two fellow students were already well versed in SQL – so we took on a project given to us instead for the module in which we created a system for secondary markers to check, comment and grade assignments and return to the original marker digitally.
In my spare time I felt it best to learn a new technology within the web development scene. I chose to follow a course on CodeAcademy on ReactJS with the aims of improving my skillset and range of tools available.
After completing the course, I applied what I had learnt into a small project.
Whilst employed at Jadecliff, I was tasked with redesigning the Marldon Christmas Tree Farm website several times (at least once a year!) with completely new looks, whilst also constantly improving the bespoke booking system I built to allow Santa’s Grotto to be booked through the website.
